A monster that will be featured in Monster Hunter 3, this creature’s japanese name is Kurupekko. Its english name is currently unknown. It has a trumpet-like crest, a large, red air sack, and a flat, fan-like tail. The red air sack is most likely based off of the air sack of a male Magnificent Frigatebird. So it is assumed that only males have this. It is also shown in the trailer and a few other Famitsu pictures to be able to somehow control or provoke monsters (including bosses, dromes and minions) to attack a hunter in some way, most likely using the Trumpet or FluteSnoot (a snoot is basically like the comb of a rooster) on its snout.
Abilities
It has been confirmed that the wyvern can somehow mimic the roars or cries of certain species of monster using the special Hunting Horn-like Snoot on its snout, for example the Rathian seen attacking the hunter in the new trailer. It can use this special adaptation to literally communicate with different species of monsters. Which would explain why the Rathian attacked the Hunter in the trailer without provocation (Most likely thinking one of her young was in danger, considering the hunter and the wyvern were fighting in a high, nest-like area.). This Bird Wyvern will be an especially dangerous challenge for even the most experienced hunters.
It also uses the flint like parts of its wings to create sparks of fire, then it charges at its target and creates a massive spark. This attack in seen in the TGS video showing Offline two player mode on Monster Hunter 3.
Because of it’s FluteSnoot, many fans generally hated this Bird-Wyvern (obviously, because it tends to use it’s FluteSnoot to call monsters out of no-where).
